Casting was no easy task according to producers Lee Wilson and Robert Woods...
"Casting the role of Craig was no easy task. The producers conducted talent searches both in the United States and abroad. "We needed a very talented youngster for this demanding role with a tremendous amount of lovability. We knew it would be a hard enough role for them to act, but adding a British accent would be even more pressure," says Wilson. Eleven-year-old Thomas Sangster fit the bill perfectly, and he didn't have to work at the British accent since he lived in London. The producers saw something special in Sangster, a cousin of actor Hugh Grant. "He just leapt out from the rest. He was living the moment," says Woods."
